Musical Theatre: The Modern Musical

Grades 6-8:
Sundays 11:00-12:30pm
In this special advanced musical theatre class, students will work on scenes, songs and dances from new musicals! Explore Dear Evan Hansen, Mean Girls, and others.

Dance: CATS Intensive

Grades 2-8:
Saturdays 10-11am
Our combined Kids/Tweens production in May 2019 will be the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic CATS. In preparation for that wonderful production, we are offering this dance class so that all young performers can begin to work on their jazz, ballet, and of course feline movement!

Dance: Theatre Jazz Intensive

Grades 5-8:
Saturdays 11-12pm
Our Tweens get a chance to continue working and developing their jazz dance technique with a special focus on modern theatre choreography.

Dance: Tap Intensive

Grades 5-10:
Saturdays 12-1pm
Tap dance is an amazing dance form and we want to introduce you to this incredible style in this 6 week intensive.

Creative Movement

Ages 3-6:
Saturdays 9-10am
A fun introduction to the Sandbox for the very young! Dance, sing and explore imaginative play. Each week the children find adventure right in our studios. Fly to outer space, sail the open seas, or explore a winter wonderland all while learning body awareness and confidence!

Spring Semester Classes 2019

Acting

Grades K-2:
Mondays 4:30-5:30pm
or
Wednesdays 4:30-5:30pm

Acting is a great way for our youngest performers to let their imaginations loose!
In our supportive and fun environment, students will be introduced to the basics of characterization, improvisation, and voice work.

Grades 3-5:
Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm
As young performers gain more experience, they often look for new challenges. This class will challenge older elementary school age students with lessons in more advanced characterization, script analysis, and rehearsal techniques.

Grades 6-8:
Wednesdays 6:30-8pm
Our oldest acting students will work on scenes and monologues as they continue their artistic journey. More advanced acting techniques are introduced at this age, including how to apply the concepts of improvisation to scripted work.

Musical Theatre

Grades K-2:
Tuesdays 4-5pm
Students will work on song and dance ensemble pieces from a variety of kid friendly musicals. Basic vocal and dance instruction with a nod to musical theatre acting are all included in this fun, fast-paced class.

Grades 3-5:
Fridays 4-5pm
Students will work on song and dance ensemble pieces from a variety of Broadway musicals. Students will also have the opportunity to work on musical theatre scenes and vocal solos.

Grades 6-8:
Sundays 11-12:30pm
In our most advanced musical theatre class, students will work on scenes, songs and dances from old and new Broadway musicals. Students in this class will be exposed to a wide variety of styles and be truly challenged!

Musicianship with JENNA DALLACCO

Grades 5-9:
Thursdays 7-8pm
The Sandbox is proud to have Jenna Dallacco as its in house voice instructor and vocal director. This fall, Jenna will offer a class to those who want to learn more about their voices as well as musical concepts like harmony and sight-reading.

Our Tweens production in January will be the cheerleading competition musical BRING IT ON. So that our performers are super prepared, we are offering this special dance class in the fall, with a focus on hip hop and cheerleading.
